easter day

We visited my folk's church for Easter Sunday brunch and an easter egg hunt.  They had a break in the weather, but KC was ready with his extra tshirt layer - A shirt made by his great Nana for his brother a few years back.  Both boys loved that shirt!

home hunt

Thanks to Gran for putting together some really fun easter eggs to hunt around the yard!  This was the first year of initial eggs since Keaton is a full egg hunter now.  There were K and A eggs everywhere!  The hunchback Uncle Woah may or may not have been responsible for some egg redistribution and some giggle fits.

2 years old!

Dear Keaton,

You woke up this morning and I asked you what you'd like for your birthday breakfast?! You didn't miss a beat and replied, "Cake!" You gave me your classic "Thank you much!" when I handed you a little warm 321 microwave cake. It is your birthday so you get what you ask for, right? You didn't want to take off your favorite doggy jammies so I let you keep them on (under your shirt). When we sang you happy birthday you wanted to sing it again and sub in everyone else's names.
You've been saying "I go be two!" when someone asks you how old you are. Your brother was keeping track of how many days until your birthday for you and he was getting pretty detailed saying, "Today is yesterday's tomorrow, so you are one day closer!" You would throw your arms up and say yay! You know that a birthday is something to celebrate. You took to singing "dappy burtday" any time you get excited or your brother does something nice for you.
We had a nice long visit in Ohio and had your first birthday celebration. (Thanks to your sweet Grandparents!) You looked at three pictures we put on your cake and you said, "Look at dat pictdure there's Me...Keaton...Baby Guy in doggie jammies!" Despite the wacky cold weather, we snuck in some time chasing after the new owly kite tails and a bunch of egg hunts. You really get what to do at an egg hunt now. At the church hunt, you scooted along and nabbed eggs as quickly as you could, even picking them out of the flowers.
You continue to like to try to sing along. My favorite is blasting "Shiny Happy People" in the car and you will belt out your versions of those words. You have a little "Do do do I love you" ditty that I just can't get enough of... You love to repeat "ABC Apple Tree..." The "Let's Go Fly a Kite" song your brother has all the lyrics too, you like to skip to the chorus right away. Patty Cake is by far your favorite (minus the Baker's man part).

You like to try to figure out how to do things work. You've been busy examining door knobs to figure out how to get them all open. You like to try to really sweep into a dust pan. You love playing along to magic tricks. One of my mom's friends played along with you hiding your Woody guys, and when you found it on her head you snatched it and ran off yelling, "Thank you much funny lady!"  You really like any chance you get to go visit your brother's school.  You had fun exploring all the stations at his International Day showcase, especially the little mini volcano and animals.
You have been all over the place with your sleep lately. You know what it means to go night night and you will actually agree that it is time to go to sleep, but it just sometimes takes you a while. When you were really tired in the car the other day, you started patting and cuddling your shoe repeating sleep tight and making snoring noises.
You love the music part of story time at the library. You also are really interested in the other kids now. You knock on the door at story time before you come in and yell out, "I here!" Then you will occasionally walk up to the closet door to knock and put your ear to the door. You laugh when someone spots you, and yell out, "Nobody home!"
You and your brother are lucky that your dad does laundry pretty quickly around here because you are constantly asking for your matching Mickey shirts. Your love of Mickey was extended by the Super Mickey shirts with a cape the easter bunny brought you (Thx Easter Bunny!) While I was away this month, you dad got you hooked on this vintage Youtube video called AppleCore Donald, which you essentially want to watch over and over again.
You will say "I scared" and cuddle close anytime you hear woodpecker noises, screechy cars, or anything spooky sounding. I think you are just interested in a cuddle. You like to watch the squirrels run around outside... You will shout, "Where did he go?" Pointing and giggling at nest up in tree is something both you and your brother like to do. You love to imitate him. Just like him, you will say "Look at my muscles!" while gritting your teeth and shaking your muscle arm.
You are a pretty good eater and went through a pretty big growth spurt this month.
I once asked you:
Mom: How many raisins are in your tummy?
KC: Three!
Mom: I bet more like 30!
KC: Ok, 33!
You love my pretty strong garlic cheese. You call it spicy - so spicy isn't just mint now - it is anything flavorful. You ask for nooooodles at just about every meal and you can chow a bunch of sghetti noodles (without a bib tho). Your birthday meal will be some fresh noodles and marinara at our favorite Pizzeria Orso. You thought your grilled ham sandwich looked like a turtle. "Mama, I eat turtles!"
If you are hungry you will frequently tell me "my tummy hurts, kiss it!" Usually we can fill up that tummy with some clementines (lots and lots from Lizzie's citrus themed shower) or your new favorite apple sauce (with just about any mix in). I think you went through some molar teething this month, which at one point caused you to try to gnaw on the steel fridge handle on your grandparent's low freezer door.
You are better than I am at matching up balls with all your various toys. Not only can you tell small differences between balls that looks virtually the same, but you can tell the differences between you different Woody guys even in the dark! You love these little four inch tall (your brother measured it in his measuring frenzy) plastic Woody figures and for about two weeks took them with your everywhere. You want to hold two of them in your hands throughout your nap and if you wake up and he's lost in the sheets you are awake and peeved... And I'm fumbling around in the dark trying to find that tiny toy. Then it the most traumatic incident, Woodie lost a leg in Whole Foods! The rescue mission to find that leg and do some gorilla glue surgery were incomplete! That tall leg Woody was, of course, the hardest toy to come by, but we did manage to find a replacement on Amazon. But we didn't get a new guy in enough time for you to avoid a rough night whining for me to "help, fix, woody, pease" like a sad broken record.
You are pretty good about separating from me, even though there aren't that many scenarios for that yet.  You don't blink an eye when I take your brother to choir or leave for a work meeting.  You were really good about going to the toddler room at my parent's church during easter.  It helped that your brother was there probably. You came prancing into the sanctuary for Children's time and you spotted me immediately.  You yelled out, "Dat's my mommy, there she is!"  You came over for a snuggle, agreed to keep going up to the front, and then wanted to come straight back to me.
You can be pretty adament about things, just like most 2 year olds, but sometimes you are pretty particular. Like when you demanded that I was only your mom - "No, Ainen dat's my mommy!" You are learning what too and also mean. When you woke up on Easter I asked, "Do you want to go see if the Easter bunny brought you a basket of presents?" Your reply, was a sleepy adamant, "No Santa presents!" You get spicy with your brother if he tries to call any rodent (squirrels especially) anything but a fox. I saw you have a standoff with the bathroom door when it wouldn't stay open and you've shared words with your doggie guitar's strap. You get peeved that not all zippers on your clothing lead to pockets ready for your toys.
If you hear someone ask what day it is, you always answer "Friiiiday!" It's always Friday for you in your happy-go-lucky world. You like to tell me "I Big!" and throw your arms out like a peacock spreading his feathers. You're a big guy who lives like every day is Friday, and I can't think of a better buddy to spend my days with... Thanks for keeping busy with me big buddy!

Love, Dat's my Mommy!

KC's letter coming soon...  2 years old!  But in the meantime, here are some bath tub buddy photos - He's trying to convince us that he is three!
