This W ubble bubble is a hit. It starts off tiny and eventually can grow to over 3 feet. We haven't even maxed it out yet, because we plan to bring out the big bubble for Keaton's birthday party. In the meantime, I'm hopeful it doesn't pop before then - it's supposed to be pretty hardy….but the Brennan bros will test that out.

literacy night
Aiden's school hosted a Heritage and Literacy Night. The gym was packed with families offering food and information about their cultural heritage to kick off the evening. The playground was also packed with lotsa kids burning off steam (the gym was toasty!) before the classrooms opened to showcase all the kid's hard work. They showed us all of their writing and some fun art projects. Aiden's journal was my favorite part with some really awesome stories. The art, music and gym teachers were also there highlighting all the fun projects. In Aiden's class the kids have created an elaborate town out of paper (on the top left). The boys loved the animal matching in the cabinet outside the office (bottom right) while dad ran to get the car in the rain.

brunch
A good weekend starts with brunch at Ted's with old friends. Our littlest friend had his first Mr. Breakfast and even put the pancake face back together for my picture. We headed to the playground afterward to run off the treats, and the frogs were singing to us. We headed down to see them up close and everyone eventually spotted them.

chalkers
Continuing in my denial of the cold temps and wind outside the window right now, here are some chalk drawers enjoying the 70 degree weather that snuck in earlier this week. Keaton made a chick all by himself and helped color in the bunny he asked me to make for him to copy Aiden's bunny.

buddies
Keaton has a best buddy at school. The kind of buddy that he asks to see and tells me lots of stories about... They share a love of just about everything, but especially making everything into a sword. They congratulate each other on building the tallest marble tower. They chit chat about super guys and ninja turtles while lounging in the reading corner. They chase after each other on made up obstacle courses on the playground. They pull each other in the wagon.
Keaton's teacher said it best: "My very favorite part of teaching 3- and 4-year-olds is witnessing the development of those first true friendships outside of family and family friends. I just love to see it – they are so delighted to share the love they’ve learned about from you, their parents, with their new friends. So, I’m thrilled that A and K are experiencing that intoxicating feeling of having found a friend!"

good list
More good stuff in spring!
Lemon pudding cupcakes to donate to the cake walk at the Spring Fling at A's school - there were four batches and two were gone in the first hour, so some kids must love lemon as much as I do ;)
This fast melting snow on the first day of spring makes the good list because it didn't cause any major trouble. No school closing, no delay, no shoveling… you are good snow.
School projects are really fun for this guy. He took charge and finished his seven page prairie dogs report by filling in facts from his favorite Pebblego online "research" site. I was charmed that he picked feefers as his animal all on his own! The were studying shapes and their reflections, etc in their big geometry unit for his math pull out group. He put together a big reference sheet of all his info.
Keaton trying to play chess against the dinosaurs while we wait around for Aiden to finish ice skating.
The neighborhood kids are into Pokemon so it was inevitable that we'd eventually have more than a few that came in birthday presents. He spent all his tooth fairy money on a big pack, and now has enough cards that he can now play the actual game.
I have been buying way too many tshirts lately, especially on shirt woot! It was like my summer dreaming spilled over into tshirt buying. My favorites are the hedgehogs. J actually found that 'just share the hedge' one for me, so he's supporting my habit.

I've been volunteering in the art room at Aiden's school. I have fun getting my hands dirty for the very nice teachers. I cut a bunch of clay and cleaned up all those paint bottles the other day!
Dreambox in the dark after a tired little brother goes to bed. He really concentrates on those number lines!
A's piano teacher gave him a big batch of really old printer paper, which he thought was just the coolest. He says he's going to us it to make birthday banners, and not just huge messes.

school is cool
Pet week meant visits from new family friends, including this cute puppy guy... Keaton will tell you how much work a doggie friend is now, so that was a nice reality check from learning about pet care ;). Keaton always tells me about the small group activities and I think making patterns is his favorite.
Keaton looooved dinosaur week. They made volcanos on paper, created 3D dioramas, and even erupted a volcano they made out of play dough. Shrieks of glee erupted along with that baking soda and vinegar!

spring fling
We couldn't miss the Spring Fling at Aiden's school even though daddy was out of town. It was a crisp sunny day even though it had been snowing a day before, luckily the fields were just dry enough to host ten giant inflatables... Or they should be renamed bouncy bash houses. There wasn't anyone keeping track of who went in and out and it was pretty much a nightmare scenario for the littlest kids. We had a few calm bouncy moments in between full body slams for poor Keaton. Some kid actually slid off the ten foot climbing wall landing on top of him. I managed to keep Keaton safe and happy outside the manic houses with lollipops he'd won, while Aiden went wild with his friends. We left without any broken bones, so I consider it a win. In other winning news, Keaton won the cake walk on our first try! It was 1 and 30 odds, so that was pretty cool and I was glad we didn't have to wait in the giant line over and over. He picked a batch of chocolate chocolate cupcakes with Oreo on top to share with daddy when he came home from AZ!

hey bunny
We took our early weekday trip to see the bunny and we sure did beat the crowds. The bunny was actually standing up chatting with the photographer when we arrived at Bunnyville. Keaton skipped up to the bunny and even asked of he could get a hug. Aiden was most interested in the town setup and game book the bunny gave him. There was even a cute faux cupcake shop menu with cute flavors like: Bunny Bananza, Jelly Bean Extreme, Lettuce Surprise, and Carrot Delight.
It was so exciting to hold hands with the bunny that we didn't get anything but wild eye guys even after two attempts. But I think these funny guys are pretty much summed up by this shot.

good list
Foil sculptures with this guy.
Thank you flowers from my DI team - oh boy, was it quiet in the house after school on Monday.
Red, Hot, & Blue and their rockin pigs are a new favorite.
Love these vintage Mr. Peanut ads.
This guy lost his fourth tooth on the top. He has the adult teeth on the bottom now and his bite is more in line now. No more chomper smiles.
This guy loves playing with his Big Hero guys.
My sister sent me this funny lookalike Aiden doll that his cousin found. So funny and he's even wearing Aiden's favorite red sweatshirt.

tidbits
Play dates at the pool clubhouse are a big hit - and especially great when we can walk there on a snow day!
Spirit week at Aiden's school was interrupted by some snow days, but they still fit in some fun make ups like pj day. Aiden was excited by a pair of my old rainbow toe socks for crazy sock day!
Sometimes I find this huggie cuddle bunch curled up together...other times not as much...
Got this pic from Keaton's first independent play date (without mom!). He was a good guest.
The mini carts are only out some of the time, but when they are this guy is always in on the action.

happy st patty's
The day started with the discovery that the leprechaun tricky guy had come and peed green in all of our toilets...of course, Aiden said. Keaton seemed jazzed when they discovered the craft supplies were raided and the tricky guy left a path of foam leprechauns straight out the door. The houses were covered in bags with Ha! Ha! Ha! written on them and the rugs picked up and twisted. Then Aiden's favorite was the tricky guy stuffed the green lantern figure in to his double stick tape trap... So he escaped! But not before he managed to turn the milk and the eggs green on the inside! Aiden was excited to gobble up those magic green eggs, Keaton wasn't so sure.
Then Aiden darted off to school to go on a fun field trip to see the Skippy Jon Jones play. They even had a tricky guy visit and it hadn't answered all their questions correctly...some leading them on a wild goose chase. Lotsa fun stories...
We had a crafternoon with Keaton's buddies and some of them made crazy hair Roy G Biv guys. We did bust out the We Might Be G iants Roy G Biv song which is always a hit. We had some rainbow water beads out to enjoy. There were lotsa stories with the Duplos all about leprechaun tricky guys. The day ended with dinner out where all kids get a mini sundae - tricky!

globetrotters
I somehow didn't realize that the Globetrotters are essentially the WWE of basketball. They charge up the audience with their silly business and Aiden was INTO it - once even yelling at the ref loud enough for everyone to hear until he caught himself. He was pretty insistent that they shouldn't goof off when they are losing (he was completely unaware of the faux setup). But they managed to keep him laughing and the four pointer to win the tied game right at the buzzer made everyone go wild. Keaton loved the mascot Globie and when he got tired at our somewhat late game just kept insisting that "Globe guy" come back.

pi day
After Aiden's theater practice, we visited the library for their Super Pi celebration! We, of course, were sporting our pi tshirts and the librarian dubbed us the Pi Family and ran to get her friend and her camera - ha! Her friend, another librarian, called herself a matheknitcian and had a sweater with the prime factorization of the numbers in pi - it was an amazing feat of knit patterning up to 79! She also had pi earrings and even socks! My pi and knitting nerdom was at a peak and she tops the pi enthusiasm chart ;)
They had whipped up a pi scavenger hunt with lotsa fun questions. With a completed pi chart of eight questions you won a piece of round candy and a pi bracelet with this years super pi date written on it! Both Super Pi Aiden and Pi-rate Keaton earned their prizes.
Then we cruised up the road to Pie Gourmet to pick up some Shepherd's Pie (and another chicken pot pie for later) and a chocolate cream pie (which some might claim is pie for people who really don't like pie that much). The pie guys were working furiously to take orders and one woman naively asked why they were so popular today - The pie guy laughed and said, "It's only because it's Pi Day!"

leprechaun houses
During one of the snow days last week, we got some leprechaun houses ready. At the last minute Aiden would like to add some double sided tape to his doorways… we will see what we find in a few days!

family dance
We hadn't been to family dance in ages. It was fun to see Aiden's old teacher there and she said he looked so much taller. Keaton was able to keep up most of the time (and had some extra style with his pants rolled up because they got a little wet in the melting snow on the way in) The caller this time was so good with the younger kids.

playground
We are definitely ready for spring! We had our popsicles and playground time going strong in the 50 degree, snow covered playground.

puppets
We went to see the Aladdin puppet show after an already busy weekend… and with the time change I think Aiden's eyes had glassed over… just kidding, it must have been the yummy brunch in our tummies that made us all a little sleepy. The show was well done, and not at all disney related. It kept everyone's attention, although I laughed at that last picture of Keaton greeting one of the puppets after the show - I think that side eye stare means he was a little skeptical.

glen e c h o
The weekend weather was creeping into the 50s and even though we didn't quite give up our coats, we ventured over to Glen E cho to see the snow melting and rushing down the creek. The sun was really working on melting everything off their fun buildings.

novelty
We had another batch of real snow the other day and the novelty has still not worn off with these guys. This time Aiden traded his fort building for tunnel building. He built them off the piles on the side of the driveway which had the perfect mix of ice chunks and fresh snow. Then we added in some spray bottles with colored water to add some color - Keaton had a blast adding some flowers and some laser blasts... All the tunnels were big enough for both boys to squirm through! It's warming to fifty degrees today so soon enough we will say bye to our tunnels.
