alligator fans

The new Mo Willems' book, Hooray for Amanda & Her Alligator, came out last week.  Our pre-ordered copy arrived on a day when KC was decked out in an outfit full of alligators ;)   Here are the brothers reading all the "surprising" chapters:

easter treats

The easter egg decorating with Lizzie....with rollers!  Aiden setup an assembly line and marked each carefully with each color.  The next day was a frenzy to find all the tricky bunny treats....then eat them with a smirk.

The bunny visited our house four times and dropped some presents off in ohio.  That is one generous bunny.  The first visit to our house he was especially tricky and he put the presents in amazon boxes by the door ;) - then the next he delivered a big basket to KC's room the day before easter - then the next he had left half a basket in the basement - then a full basket was found behind the couch on easter morning.  Yep, the bunny's helper mom had some slip ups with organizing all the easter treats ;)   Thanks to the ohio bunnies for the great gifts!

kc and the sunshine kid

We were so lucky to have my sister here for the end of Aiden's vacation week and easter!  Uncle Woah didn't make the trip this time, but he sent his best to his newly nicknamed buddies - KC and the Sunshine Kid. The Sunshine Kid was so excited to see Liz and we were singing KC and the Sunshine Band's Shake, Shake, Shake and Please Don't Go!  Keaton busted out his best cuddles and Aiden was happy to run around the playground with Lizzie close behind.  I'm so grateful that I managed to get out of the house for the first time in weeks and Lizzie was here to help - not sure how I'm going to manage without an extra set of hands.  Liz hid the easter eggs, made the holiday sausage brunch casserole (and it is possible to make crunchy bacon on our stove top) and decorated cool roller eggs with Aiden.  Thanks for making the trip to meet KC and keep the Sunshine Kid happy - with especially clean mitts most of the time ;)

on stage

Aiden's back to school this morning after a super fun April vacation week.  Keaton and I were cuddling at home and missed most of the fun, but daddy snapped these shots of Aiden's three visits to stage at three different magic shows!  He'd run in the door yelling mommy, ready to tell me how he helped the magician.  I think it's funny that he went from not being interested in going up on stage during Feb vacation week, to getting his eager smiley face up on stage over and over again.  Some mom even recognized him and commented to J that he is a lucky kid.

7 pounds!

Poor baby KC had a slight temperature earlier this morning and when I called the doctor he was showing off his grunting routine, so the doctor wanted to check him out.  He didn't even have a temperature with their more accurate rectal thermometer (although it did cause a big blowout on the poor nurse) and the grunting is just a mild reflux (probably caused by my chocolate and tomato consumption).  We're going to try sitting upright while we eat and take out some of those culprits in my diet and hopefully he'll be fine.

The most exciting news was that he'd gained a ton of weight and is 7 pounds exactly!  I knew he was chunking up - but he'd gained 21 ounces in 14 days.  The doctor said she was "amazed" - I'm just glad all this nursing is paying off.  My supply is finally starting to even out and I'm comfy...which I don't think I was saying yet with the baby AB.
Thanks L for the super fun onsie stickers!  Thanks B for the froggie friend which I plan to put next to him each month to compare.  Look I can stretch out my chubby knees:

two week old tricks

Our little 2 week old (!) trickster has some fun tricks.
Two legs in one pant leg and holding balloons (just like big brother back in the day):
Narrowly avoiding getting eaten by big brother:
Matching his sonogram snapshot - drama arm! - and starting to grow some baby chubby chin!

yin yang

The second week of Keaton's life was surprisingly calm, especially given the little bumps in the road.  J got in a minor car accident on his way home from storytime yoga with Aiden.  Some guy pulled out into his lane and clipped him. Ug. Then when he got home there was a crazy amount of important mail - my retirement account info was cleared (combining everything took way too long), our homeowner's insurance dropped us (dumb timing but no big deal), new ATM cards (they just do that to get you on the phone to sell you something, don't they?), a new mortgage company took over our account (just to be annoying?!), and J's fellowship acceptance letter (yay - free money!).... waaaay too much important stuff for sleep deprived people.  We also reduced the price of our house and booked our trip to look for a place to live in Virginia.  I also got another freelance gig request (of course it comes right after the baby arrives!) that I agreed to do (yay money!).

I took a cue from our calm little snuggle baby and I felt pretty calm sorting through it all...  In the midst of it all, Aiden has been incredibly easy going.  He helped me seal envelopes on the baby announcements and did all sorts of fun things with his dad.  They visited another random magic show (where he was very excited to participate), a dance for books party at the library, and healthy kids day at the YMCA.  Aiden picked out the yin yang face paint, which I think is very fitting.  I'm a bit jealous that baby KC and I are missing out on the fun, but we're just cuddling and snuggling and eating and sleeping occasionally... and enjoying the little iphone photos that dad brings home ;)

sleepies

Here is Aiden with his fun poster from the game that Gran and Pop left behind.... He collected a prize for each dot.  He said he was one lucky dog! (He's right - thanks G and P!)  He also decorated a batch of eggs with Gran the night before they left.  The next day he was pretty tuckered out from all the excitement of the last week and a half.  You can see his sleepy eyes in these photos.  Meanwhile, KC is sleeping with his new froggy friend (thanks B!) and is all snug in his blankey.
