museums

These guys loved tromping down to the National Mall to show some favorite family members some of our favorite museums.  So glad to spend time with family - thanks for hopping down here!

dentist copycat

Somebody loves to do everything his brother does.  This boy was determined to get his own check up and full cleaning at the dentist.  They said he was one of the youngest patients to fully cooperate and that usually kids his age don't even sit in the chair. They gave him the list of toothpaste/fluoride flavors and he quickly picked grape.  He let them polish all his teeth, fed Mr. Thirsty with kissy lips while rinsing, and tried to help them count his teeth with the shiny mirror.  He loved the hygentist so much he gave her a giant hold on tight hug as we said goodbye.

still bouncing

We are still bouncing around between meeting with contractors and making fun updates - like my favorite new exhibition font Welcome sign covering the spot where the old intercom sat.  I scrubbed down all our outdoor patios and they look brand new... Now they just need some furniture and cooler weather!  I had a chance to sneak up to Maryland to visit my college roommate at her baby shower.  In between all that fun the boys are busy building forts in every space they can and coloring giant tmnt pages - which look like new wallpaper in their room right now.

on the daily

We've been playing at the pool almost daily since we moved in about five houses down from the club.  It's a pretty low key spot, but the best part is the shaded splash pool and the smell of all the evergreen trees.  Whoever thought to tuck a pool into the woods is brilliant!

My uncle got the boys some one ounce copper coins to start a coin collection and Aiden loves it.  He was holding it up to admire it and watch it shine so much it lost some of it's original shine. 

The doggies chasing after them in their dual wagon rides was another highlight of hanging out with the Henrichs.

Monster's University is a big craze on just about every product at the grocery, so this kit Gran found was a big hit with the boys.  Aiden loved the movie he went to see with his Dad.

THIS!   I have been talking about this for years!  I even called Kellog's once and talked to a nice customer service person that probably dealt with a million crazies like me calling with their grand ideas.  But even if it took them ten years to listen to my idea, I was genuinely excited to see these pop up on the shelf at Target.  They taste just like a peanut butter cookie stuffed with a decently peanuty sugary goodness.  I, of course, would always like more peanuty flavor, but they are yummy.  The box says there is a peanut butter with chocolate frosting too, but Target wasn't carrying it yet.  I can't imagine eating these routinely for breakfast but it's a dessert treat!

 

A little before and after snippets of the front of the new place.  I need to get the real camera cooking once we get more settled.  Good bye all cream door and brown stripey garage.  Hello, nice crisp navy with new polished nickel.  New door knobs are like butter to me!  We also rehung the fifth anniversary door knocker (from my folks) we had hanging in Seekonk originally.  

bouncing around

We've been bouncing around town trying to beat the heat.  The library hosted an ASL singalong with parts for the kids to play.  Aiden was so excited to be the bunny.  Then as an extra bonus we met up with the cousins to hang out in the library.

Bouncing around on lotsa errands and even a mini dessert date at my favorite spot with my favorite guy... We've even been bouncing around outside a bit before the heat of the day sets in and while I was doing some chores Aiden wrote in his new "like book" a bunch of fun stuff he likes at the new house.  Keaton wrote a bunch of scribble worms in his book too.  Lots to like ;)

The workhouse hosted horsey rides and cowboy Keaton was on it!  Splash, the littlest pony, gave him a nice ride around the old prison yard.

ceramics

The annual fundraiser ice cream social for the ceramics studio at the Workhouse was perfectly timed during my parents visit.  It was a great break from unpacking and Aiden picked out two matching bowls that are great decorations and fit lotsa ice cream ;)

wonka

In between unpacking we are still sneaking in some fun, like a Willy Wonka show performed by a children's theater.  Aiden loves that book and seemed equally excited by the musical.  We were lucky to be front and center so we could hear it all.

s'mores

KC had his first s'more back in Ohio and he seemed to think the fire was exciting but the sticky mess not as much...until I let him rinse in the hose.  We are living it up in the 'finding the good in a sticky mess' while we move in and unpack our 399 items (that moving company inventory amazed me).  Can't wait to eventually be settled in, but patience is a virtue even in moving.  I'm grateful to my folks for coming to help keep the boys happy - and even helping clear some pesky poison ivy in our wild backyard - A hazard of living in the woods. We so appreciate them!  Everyone needs s'more Gran and Pop ;)

Amongst all the hustle and bustle of settling and moving into our new place (yay, so far so good), I miss this big buddy!!
