art

I haven't posted art with Aiden in ages... There are piles of fun things that come home from school and he is always hunting down some specific sort of crayon for drawing at home. He's getting more interested in picture pages and coloring in the lines. Here are few from the recent spooky past:
The stickers were from the halloween party and he wrote that menu after taking everyone's orders ;)
These are the monsters and eyeballs that graced his cupcakes at his party. He says that they are yummy and cool ;)  He helped fill in the outlines with his Nana!  (Thanks!)
When I first pulled that apple wreath out of his bookbag I thought someone had spilled something in his bag.  He was proud that his glue stuck.
The spider web that hung at our house had some creepy crawly guys hiding in it.  I have so, so many of these big paper drawings from his school.  Many of them have our whole family and it alternates where KC is being held in his carrier.
Gluing, cutting, pin punching, lacing... so, so many papers in his enormous bookbag.

bear

We get a pretty fancy neighborhood newsletter and this month it had a poem with clues to find a tree with what looked like a bear head growing out of it. Aiden was on the hunt with clues narrowed down. We found a path to beach three and way up high in one of the trees was the bear! It was so fun to see the little surge of excitement when Aiden first spotted it! He was pleased we are "such good detectives!". Then we hit the beach for some giggles on the swings! KC lives for pushes from his brother and pulled out the pouty lip when he ran off for a second ;)

monuments

We hiked it from the new Martin Luther Kind Memorial (well done) around the war memorials, around the construction up to the Lincoln Memorial.  I think there is a shot of my mom and my sister in the very same spot on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

squeak

We want to squeak in as much outside fun while the weather is nice, so we headed to the sculpture gardens in DC (although some appear to be closed right now). We goofed around in the bright sun and eventually we were drawn in by the carousel. Then a trip to J's favorite Hard Times (chili and wings!) and my favorite Dairy Godmother (pumpkin custard with oaty crumble!) Then we headed back to play and share some new birthday presents. S rocked and won a round of the ladybug game in record time! The wooden baked goods were enjoyed by everyone ;). We're going to miss the giggly girls when they move to Hawaii (!) next month, but we hope to squeak in a few more low key fun times with them before they go!

air and space

We are becoming frequent visitors at the Air and Space museum.  This time around KC was more awake than he's ever been (usually daddy's broad chest lulls him to sleep in the ergo) and he was fascinated by every yellow plane he saw.... there is just something about yellow for this little giggler.
My dad teased me about this photo, but we're lucky if Aiden will have anything to do with a photo lately... so I thought maybe my excitement could get him jazzed...
This was the first time we went up in the air traffic tower, and it was just beautiful to see all the fall color up there.

zoo

We hit the zoo during our streak of beautiful weather.
The best memory of the zoo was my mom recovering the shoe KC kicked off on our way to the car!  Thanks, thanks!  That puppy booty has some sentimental value.
This time Aiden wanted to stop at the little stations and "learn something new!" Also, despite the rising temperature, he liked keeping his hood up.  I think he was a little bit of a tired guy.
Aiden randomly started singing a new song he made up "from silly world!"  He was belting it out as he walked with PopPop back to the car and would randomly bust it out throughout the day.  Makes me giggle... "I can't be a fool today, Nooo, nonono!"

grands

There are bunches and bunches of more photos from our fun with Gran and Pop, but here are a few... Thanks for everything while you were here especially for the big boy's birthday! We miss you and see you soon!

We headed back to show Gran and Pop the beautiful arboretum on a bright sunny fall day.

fall

We had some family photos taken by a professional this weekend here in the neighborhood by the beach. I'm hoping that she managed a good shot of the four of us during the pique color.  Pop Pop nabbed some shots on a walk around the block.

snack

We were assigned Halloween week for snack for Aiden's class.  Aiden and I had fun prepping spiders, eyeballs, mummies, and witches hats.
