We woke up to a winter wonderland! It's a good thing because they cancelled schools everywhere before the first flake even fell last night. It started just after midnight and is still going strong. Amazingly Aiden slept in a good extra hour, although I woke up at the usual time. It was nice to have some rare alone time watching the cats jump at the windows trying to snag the big flakes (this was the main source of entertainment because our satellite was out too). When Aiden finally woke up he saw that snow and said, "Look mom it's snowy christmas time! Maybe Santa came?" Then he made up this funny snowy day song (I missed the beginning on the video, which was a bummer).
Aiden pulled on some of my "super" socks and "super" scarves, which he says is "super adult stuff," to complete his layers. It was a balmy 32 degrees, so the snow was super packable. We went way out into the corner of our yard to where the plows have dumped a big pile to build a little fort. He "hid" in the fort and asked me to call daddy over so he could surprise him with snow balls. We then went over and helped daddy clear out the driveway a little bit more. He had piled up a big "Mount Aiden" which Aiden climbed up to play his shovel guitar. After a long while, we finally headed inside for some gingerbread marshmallow men dancing in our hot cocoa. We headed out again later in the day and more snow had fallen on our fort. This time it had cooled off so the snow was all crunchy and not at all packable. But Aiden was very excited to eat it, so daddy gave him a lesson in avoiding yellow snow.

Most of the rest of the day was spent playing Woody, Jessie, and the Alien (the towel head people) and building up farmland throughout the living room - the roads lead to the forest on the right and the "fluffy striped snowland" on the left:
