choc fest

February is a chocolate lovers favorite month, eh? The American Indian Museum was hosting a less commercial, more educational version of a chocolate festival compared to the one in McLean. We learned how chocolate is made and saw a real cocoa tree and the pulpy pod. Aiden tried out grinding and sniffing all the spices. Then we got to taste some real rich drinking chocolate. KC seemed peeved that he didn't get any, and I think Aiden was looking for a sugary brownie or chocolate dipped something. We had some lunch in their cool cafe with authentic foods that make me wish I was a more adventurous eater. Then we met up with our friends just in time for the dancers (one of which had a skull mask that spooked poor scaredy Aiden). We played some rounds of trivia where the babies beat us all with their random smacks. Cruised around the tepee, basket weaving, and Aiden's favorite, the snowshoe experiment... Then Aiden was signed up to make a paper mola design. It was a good brisk day to be inside what Aiden now calls "some cool architecture!"
